move.
breathe.
heal.

Is something holding you back, but you can't put your finger on it?

Do you feel numb, disconnected, or overwhelmed .. struggling to keep up with life?

You’re not alone.

At any given time, 1 in 5 Canadians are suffering from a mental health condition or illness. By the age of 40, more than 50% of Canadians have experienced at least one mental health challenge.  Whether it’s depression, PTSD, anxiety, mood disorders or other challenging issues, the impact can be devastating.

Mental health conditions and illnesses don’t just “happen” to people — they have a root cause. And that cause is unprocessed trauma, experienced in childhood and throughout life.

And if life wasn’t already challenging enough, the COVID-19 Pandemic amplified the feelings of isolation, anxiety, loneliness and loss for all of us.  Like many, you’re likely still trying to recover from this collective trauma that we all experienced as individuals.

The good news is that you’re not broken.   You can heal.  And we’re here to help.

I'm Missy, and I'm so grateful you're here.

The fact you’ve found my little corner of the internet probably means that you’re on a path of exploration, curiosity and of seeking some answers in your life.  You might be feeling some anxiety or heaviness and not really sure why .. or perhaps you’re finding yourself distant and disconnected from the people in your life you love the most.

Years ago, I felt these feelings and many more that led me to hitting a breaking point .. where I almost ended my life.  You can read more about my story here, but as they say .. what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

I was able to take all of that pain, sadness and struggle and use it as a catalyst for my own healing and growth.  Yoga and movement were so healing for me, I became a certified yoga instructor, and went on to become one of Canada’s few certified facilitators for Trauma Sensitive Yoga.  I embraced movement, breathwork and also incorporated the use of meditation, plant medicines and journalling in my healing.

Today, Avesah is my life’s work and passion that allows me to help others to identify, process and heal the painful and difficult parts of their past.   Healing your past allows you to be grounded and joyful in the present, and empowers you to create an extraordinary future for you and the ones you love.

The meaning of Avesah:

/from ancient Sanskrit: āveśāḥ

To be empowered.
